Building tools for scientific R&D
Open World Scientific exists to help scientific research organisations make better use of the software, data and infrastructure they already have, while building new tools that open up better ways for scientists to work.
Making research software work together
Scientific research rarely happens in one system. Assays, compounds, samples, sequences and other data tend to live in different applications, built at different times for different purposes. The systems themselves may work well, but the boundaries between them can make research harder than it needs to be.
Open World Scientific works across those boundaries: connecting existing systems and scientific tools, automating where it makes sense to do so, and building new capabilities where existing software does not go far enough. The aim is to make the whole research environment more useful without requiring organisations to replace everything they already have.
The approach is grounded in more than twenty years of building software and infrastructure across pharmaceutical and biotech R&D. That work has spanned assay and registration platforms, integrations, cheminformatics and bioinformatics, cloud data pipelines and the automation around them, across chemistry, structure, sequence, assay and imaging, and from scientific libraries and programming languages through to cloud infrastructure and data platforms.
An open world for science
The name comes from open-world games, where you are not forced down a single path and are free to explore in any direction. You can follow a question, change direction and move between different parts of the world as the situation demands.
Scientific research is much the same. Questions lead from one kind of data to another, from one tool to another, and often somewhere unexpected. The software supporting that work should not force scientists into a predetermined route through it.
That becomes increasingly practical as models become capable of using the same chemistry, structure, sequence and data tools that scientists already rely on, while keeping a record of what they do. They can work across existing systems, use established scientific capabilities, and bring the results together. They can also provide the basis for new tools and workflows that would be difficult to build around conventional software interfaces.
Open World Scientific aims to make scientific software more open: making better use of the technology organisations already have, connecting it where it makes sense, automating where it makes sense to do so, and building what is missing so that scientists can navigate their data more freely and explore new directions of research.
Services
Scientific data platforms. Data pipelines and cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud. Cheminformatics and bioinformatics tooling with RDKit, AutoDock Vina, BLAST, MAFFT and HMMER. AI in scientific workflows over the Model Context Protocol. Scientific interfaces and visualisation in React. Architecture review and due diligence.
Chain of Thought
Chain of Thought is internal research, not a product. It might become one. An agent plans and runs scientific tool calls, and the results land on an execution graph. The walkthrough uses synthetic data.
